Remote Camera Housing

This housing was designed for a unique application; To mount a remote camera where it might be hit with a bullet.

The purpose of the project was to allow for bench rest shooters to view their targets at 300 to 1000 yards. Careful consideration was given to limit any flat surface exposed to the target benches. The housing was rolled to maximize deflection to the dirt bank behind the target. Stainless, weather resistant, plate steel was used to shelter the camera housing from the elements. 7 gauge and 1/4″ plate were used to ensure that in the unlikely event that the housing were to be hit it would not damage the internal device.

Folding Cookbook Stand

My client wanted a custom cookbook stand.

I created this version, designing each component in SolidWorks and machining the required parts.

The final product is constructed from food grade stainless steel and can be run through a dishwasher. The rotating arms keep cookbooks open. The back feet fold in, allowing the stand to store in a kitchen drawer.

Functional 3D Prints

Now that the 3D printing hype has died down the technology is often relegated to the realm of a cool toy, used to print figurines, tchotchke’s, and other items of questionable use.

However, there are many day to day uses for 3D printing that someone with a basic skillset can utilize. From reverse engineering plastic components to designing solutions for little annoyances around the home, 3D printing is a great tool. Typically, in less than the time it takes to go to the store, a part can be drawn and loaded to the printer. Then, a few minutes or hours later a custom part can be installed. All for less than a couple dollars of plastic.

This post is an ongoing reel of useful parts I have designed and printed.
